Bad Republican, Bad

OK, now most of the time I get on Democrats for their stupid statements and lack of sanity these days, but just to show that I'm not completely partisan, here's a hat tip to Rep Tom Tancredo (R-Col).

Rep. Tom Tancredo, a Colorado Republican, was asked on a radio talk show Friday how the United States should respond if terrorists struck several of its cities with nuclear weapons.

"Well, what if you said something like _ if this happens in the United States, and we determine that it is the result of extremist, fundamentalist Muslims, you know, you could take out their holy sites," Tancredo answered.

When host Pat Campbell of WFLA-AM in Orlando, Fla. asked if he meant "bombing Mecca," the congressman responded: "Yeah."

Nice.
Radical Jewish terrorists decide to ignite a nuke in Brooklyn because the US decides to make kosher food illegal.  What do we do?  Nuke Jerusalem?  If it were radical Christians would you nuke Rome?

What a stupid thing to say.

And if Santa Claus left anthrax in our stockings then I suppose that we would have to nuke the North Pole and flood the world?!?

Is this analogy even appropriate? Sounds a lot like the "why didn't we just invade N. Korea then" arguments that I hear stoners make at parties.

Truth is that if a large portion of mainstream Jews supported committing terrorist acts against the US, AND this cultural attitude was a critical factor for promoting NUMEROUS attempts (some devasting), then we would look at Israel a lot differently.

While we're playing the "let's imagine" game, pretend that all of the terrorist acts of the last two decades that were committed by Muslims were actually committed by Israeli Jews.

That little country would be mostly flattened by now. It's glowing remnants would be a US territory.

If we didn't need the oil, Mecca would probably be a crater.
